Parliamentary Assembly
Communications and collaboration

The parliamentary assembly consists of 150 representatives who belong to the IAU as members of a party, group or as a prominent personage. The assembly also consists of 10 observers whose job it is to represent the associate members of the IAU.

The parliamentary assembly, as the main advisory body of the IAU, thus represents a platform for “parliamentary diplomacy” where the national, regional and international objectives of Iraq may be raised. All kinds of problems are discussed and the assembly’s voting results are a barometer of opinion within the IAU. The parliamentary assembly gives all representatives, who are also full members of the IAU, a forum in which to air their different points of view and enables them to reach agreement on courses of action in the most important questions.

Assembly resolutions are legally binding for all full members of the IAU and, as such, represent the moral authority of the IAU.
